Happy 3 Months Old, Baby Girl!
What a crazy adventure we have been on! Four days after your 2 month birthday we moved from our house in The Colony to our new house in Savannah, TX! You came with us to sign the closing paperwork and slept through the whole thing but had a rough time the day that we moved. The morning of our move was your 2 month checkup and you had to get your vaccinations so you weren't a happy camper. Most of the day you just wanted to sleep and be held because your poor little legs were sore from the jabs. This left Mommy largely useless during the move so I spent most of the time directing people and telling them where to put our stuff while I cradled you in my arms. You would cry every time I had to shift you from one arm to the other because it made your legs hurt. But you were back to yourself the next day.
You are becoming such a chatty baby--you make more and more noises every day and you love to be talked to. You are trying to giggle and make noises that sound like the beginning of a giggle that hasn't found its way out yet. (Except for twice in your sleep.) You are very social and like to be with your people (and even happier if you are in the arms of anyone who will talk to you and take interest in you.) You have begun to watch your big brother anytime you hear him and you recognize and smile at Daddy and I when we greet you.
At your two-month checkup we learned how much you've grown in both height, weight and head circumference. You weighed 12 lbs. 13 oz's, were 21.5 inches long. Your percentiles are 79.2% for weight and 100% for height! Dr. Paruolo was pleased with the weight gain and the cute little rolls that you've developed on your thighs and arms. He joked that Mommy must be making whipping cream because you are a champ of an eater and are gaining weight beautifully! You were all smiles and were being incredibly cute during the exam. Dr. Paruolo told you that he was going to have to teach you NOT to smile at Italian men when you get older!
Some other things we've noticed about you this month:
*Your head control is getting a lot better and you are getting less floppy. We still have to prop you up to make you sit but you are able to turn your head a lot more and hold it steady for longer.
*You've discovered your hands and you like to hold them out in front of you and open and close them. You also still love to stick them in your mouth and ALMOST got both fists in there at one point. Most of the time you only manage to get one in there and you always suck on your hand when you are tired (usually just before you fall asleep.)
*You prefer your hands to your paci for comfort and will only usually take a paci if you are really tired and just need the comfort.
*Your longest sleep stretch so far has been 11 hours and 45 minutes---WOW! You amaze me with how well you sleep. You love your nap time and bed time. You also like to take a little cat nap when you are having tummy time (instead of working on your head control.)
*You are not a fussy baby unless you need something (food or sleep) and even then, you rarely cry about anything.
*You woke up on the morning of your 3 month birthday with congestion and a runny nose but no fever. It doesn't seem to be bothering you much but you keep sneezing and sound a bit congested so we're keeping an eye on it.
*The hiccup trend that began in the womb has continued regularly outside the womb. You get the hiccups a lot, and while it used to really annoy you now you just get mildly frustrated.
*You continue to be a sweet, cuddly, loving baby and you like to nestle your head on our necks and shoulders. You are most happy when someone has a conversation with you and you like to contribute to the conversation by burbling and cooing.
*Bathtime calms you when you are tired and fussy and you've really gotten to where you like kicking your feet and splashing them around. Mommy loves how your clean hair sticks up like baby monkey hair after its been washed and dried.
*One of Mommy's coworkers gave you the cutest little teal blue hat and booties so I put you in it to do your 2 month photo shoot. We did the shoot over a couple of days because you tend to get annoyed when I spend too much time behind the camera but the pics turned out so cute! Because you turned 2 months during the month of October a pumpkin was an absolute must as a prop. Your brother even got in on it and I was able to snap a few cute pics of him with the pumpkin.
We are so in love with you and find that its hard to imagine how our life was without you here. Happy 3 month birthday my sweet girl.
