Second Pregnancy :: Week 24
How far along?
24 weeks
How big is baby?
A Cantaloupe
At week 24, baby’s progress isn’t just about internal stuff, it’s about her looks too. With pinker, more opaque skin, she’s looking more and more, well, like a baby. You might be experiencing some of the discomforts of the later months of pregnancy like leg cramps, backaches and swollen feet.
Weight this week:
189.4
Total weight gain:
21
Maternity clothes:
I made the cutest maternity skirt this week! I modeled it after a skirt that Alisa gave me (but that is still a bit too large to wear at this point.) I had some jammie fabric that I’d bought to make something for Lucas--it has green and blue monsters on it. But it was perfect for the skirt because it was so soft and flowy and stretchy! I got a lot of compliments on it and the whole thing only took me about an hour from start to finish!
Stretch marks:
Nothing new.
Belly button:
When I sit down it starts to really look like an outie.
Sleep:
I’m knackered a lot of the time so I sleep pretty well, though most nights I’m up 2-3 times to pee. I fall asleep on my side but in my sleep I turn on my back which makes me panic because they say you aren’t supposed to sleep on your back past the fourth month.
Best moment of the week:
My daddy was here! And he got to feel Baby Girl move! He came to celebrate his birthday with us, and to celebrate Lucas’s birthday early. We went on a train ride in Grapevine, played at Bass Pro Shop (Lucas especially likes the boats you can get into and press the buttons on) and took him out to dinner at Joe's Crab Shack. It was a really nice weekend. Lucas absolutely smothered him with hugs and kisses and cuddles :)
Food cravings:
I’m still on a taco kick! I’ve had tacos twice this week already!
Food aversions:
My Chinese food didn’t settle very well on Friday night :( And it doesn’t sound good anytime soon.
Symptoms:
In addition to my rockin’ heartburn, I’ve gotten a few leg cramps this week. My stomach feels really hard at night, like its tired and is rebelling and putting its stubborn face on. Knees are still bothering me a little so I’ve been taking the elevator from time to time. I didn’t know what to expect when it came to Braxton-Hicks contractions with Lucas, but I definitely do now. I have them every once in a while, and my whole belly gets hard and it makes me feel like I need to pee.
Movement:
Gosh--tons! Her moving around wears me out! There have been days when she’s wiggled pretty much all day and sucked what little energy I have out of me! Busy baby!
Gender:
Girl! (Note: this section not likely to change from here on out....unlike my weight, which will.) :)
What I’m looking forward to:
Lucas’s 5th birthday on May 7th!
What I’m nervous about:
Being prepared enough NOT to be at school in the fall when everyone goes back. I just want to make sure I have all my bases covered.
What I miss:
Lots of things, particularly in regards to things I take for granted. Like being able to bend over without groaning or feeling like I’m squishing myself.
Next appointment:
May 26th. Friggin’ glucose screening. I dislike that orange shit they make you drink. :( I failed the screening with Lucas and had to come back and do the 3 hour one. REALLY hoping that doesn’t happen again.
Comparison to Pregnancy #1:
Wiggly baby!
