Second Pregnancy :: Week 26

Second Pregnancy :: Week 26
How far along?
26 weeks
How big is baby?
A Head of Lettuce
At week 26, baby may be interfering with your sleep, messing with your brain (forget much?), and even be giving you a stress headache or two. It’s normal to be experiencing some mild swelling, but around this week, it’s important to watch out for swelling severe or sudden -- it could be the sign of a dangerous condition called preeclampsia. Her eyes are forming, and his eyes will soon start to open and her eyelashes are now grown, too. She's getting her immune system ready for life on the outside by soaking up your antibodies. She's taking breaths, too. They're of amniotic fluid, not air, but it's still good practice.
Weight this week:
189.0
Total weight gain:
20.6 (I went down in weight this week for some reason)
Maternity clothes:
When I was pregnant with Lucas I didn’t get to wear a maternity swim suit because he was conceived and born at the wrong time of year for one. But this go around, I have need for one and I’m pretty excited about that!
Stretch marks:
Nothing new. (Or not that I can tell.)
Belly button:
Still half-innie and half-outie.
Sleep:
Pregnancy sleep rocks. I’ve been sleeping quite well lately.
Best moment of the week:
I went to Hawaiian Falls with over 200 middle school students and a bunch of teachers for the annual fieldtrip. And even though I couldn’t ride the waterslides, I still had a great time hanging out in the sun with my co-workers and my Bestie! The water was super cold so I only got in the lazy river once, but I still got to wear my maternity swim suit and that made me happy.
Food cravings:
Meh, not too many. I’m always good with tacos though!
Food aversions:
Thankfully I haven’t thrown up anything since last weekend :)
Symptoms:
After taking 12 Tums in one day for my battery-acid heartburn, I sought out an alternative and called my doctor. I’m taking Pepcid AC (OTC) and it has helped a lot. I figure taking 1 pill instead of 12 of them has got to be better.
Movement:
I’ve actually felt kind of sore on the outside of my belly for all the moving she’s been doing on the inside!
Gender:
Girl! (Note: this section not likely to change from here on out....unlike my weight, which will.) :)
What I’m looking forward to:
I’m just ready for school to be out so I can go home and see my Mommy :)
What I’m nervous about:
Honestly, at this point I think I’ve dealt with all the major things. Now I just need to wrap up my maternity leave stuff and I think I’ll be all set.
What I miss:
Beer. Now that the weather is warm and I can sit out on the patio, I’d really love a beer.
Next appointment:
May 26th...the dreaded glucose screening is closing in on me...
Comparison to Pregnancy #1:

I’m pregnant. I think the similarities stop there.
