Second Pregnancy :: Week 33
How far along?
33 weeks
How big is baby?
A Durian Fruit (WTH? I think these things are weird.)
We’d tell you to take a deep breath and relax, but it’s probably tough to do either of those at 33 weeks. It’s probably tough to be comfortable at all, since you might be feeling overheated on top of your other symptoms, too. But you’re probably getting super excited to meet baby, and we can’t blame you. Week 33 is a good time to make sure you have a safe car seat for baby -- go ahead and install it already. Sure, you might not see baby for another month, but if you have an early surprise arrival, that’s the one thing you really need to have ready.
He weighs about 4.2 to 5.8 pounds and measures about 17.2 to 18.7 inches. And he may grow up to a full inch this week -- amazing. He's keeping his eyes open while awake. He's also starting to coordinate breathing with sucking and swallowing. His bones are hardening. And he going through (more) major brain development -- that's one smart baby!
Weight this week:
197.4
Total weight gain:
29 lbs.
Maternity clothes:
My medium maternity shirts are a LEETLE BEET tight. And the large shirts are starting to get that way, but I refuse to move up to the extra large yet!! I’m really glad for the shorts that my Mom bought me while I was in NM because they have the full belly panel (and believe me, I’m needing it now!)
Stretch marks:
Nothing new. (Or not that I can tell.)
Belly button
Outie. And the holes where my belly button ring are look kind stretched out again.
Sleep:
Whenever Jesse asks me “how did you sleep” my standard response is “about as well as I ever do.” Its really hard to say that I got a good night’s sleep when I’m up every 2 hours to pee.
Best moment of the week:
Despite the lack of sleep, I’ve had a pretty nice week. Last weekend we celebrated the 1st birthday of Miss Everly Rose Trahan. We are so blessed to have friends like the Trahan’s--they are just a really great family and it was nice to spend time with them. And in travelling up to Savannah for her birthday we discovered that we want to move out there, so we’ve spent a bit of time this week debating on buying or building.
We took out all of the baby gear from the attic this week--it looks like Babies R Us threw up in our garage!! I’d forgotten how much stuff we saved (which is a good thing, but it is seriously taking over one half of the garage at the moment.)
My friend Therese helped me with one of my nursery projects--I wanted a frame for one of the chalkboards in the nursery and she helped me by creating one with her awesome miter saw and nail gun!
Independence Day was pretty low-key. We didn’t do a whole lot during the day, but we did go and meet up with our friend Dustin and his daughter Mallory for some fireworks out by the golf course. Lucas was absolutely enthralled by the fireworks and it was awesome to see his sweet face light up with joy! He also finished swim lessons this week which was kind of sad--but he had fun and learned a lot and we might end up signing him up for a second session.
Food cravings:
The taco cravings haven’t stopped, but I haven’t been giving in as much. Food has been the cause of a few emotional breakdowns this week. I get so frustrated because my brain just cannot seem to put things together. I stood in front of the pantry for over 5 minutes the other day and then just walked away, sat on the couch and cried my eyes out--I miss my old brain!!
Food aversions:
Cannot do tomato anything--not even pizza.
Symptoms:
My belly hurts from all the movement. She really feels like she’s stretching out in there and it makes me physically tired and sore on the outside of my body. I think she must be doing some sort of Irish dancing in there because to watch it from the outside is almost surreal. She’s so flippin’ active!
Movement:
Please see “symptoms” comments above :)
Gender:
Girl! (Note: this section not likely to change from here on out....unlike my weight, which will.) :)
What I’m looking forward to:
Is it too early to say BIRTH? I’m really ready to meet her. I’m so tired of being pregnant.
What I’m nervous about:
Now that we’ve decided to move to Savannah, I’m trying to decide between buying and building. We’re leaning more towards building, but that in itself means a whole different adventure--it also means I need to get this house ready to sell. Blegh.
What I miss:
I can’t get off Lucas’s bed without Jesse’s help. When I lay down on the bed to read him a story, there isn’t enough room for me to get myself up safely so I have to rely on Jesse to come and help me up. I am so used to being self-sufficient....its hard for me to rely on anyone for help doing stuff I feel I should be able to do myself.
Next appointment:
July 7th (Monday!)
Comparison to Pregnancy #1:
Nope. Can’t think of anything this week.
