Second Pregnancy :: Week 21
How far along?
21 weeks
How big is baby?
A Pomegranate
Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.
Weight this week:
185.4
Total weight gain:
17
Maternity clothes:
I wore a dress this week! I didn’t wear dresses when I was pregnant with Lucas. I don’t know why--I guess its because I don’t wear dresses in general so that transferred over into my maternity wardrobe. My friend Delia loaned me a couple of dresses though so I gave one of them a shot. And you know what? It was so comfortable that I came home that night and figured out what dresses I still fit into! I will be wearing dresses again for sure!
Stretch marks:
Nothing new.
Belly button:
Innie. Itchy. Stretching. Also, the top of it appears to be poking out a little.
Sleep:
This week was Book Fair and I was extremely exhausted all week. There were days I went to bed at 8pm because I couldn’t keep my eyes open.
Best moment of the week:
We’ve been making some pretty great memories with Lucas lately. We took him to see Thomas the Train at the Grapevine Historic Railroad. Since he’ll be our “only” for just a few more months, I think it was an important day. His little face lit up and it was a really good time.
My second favorite memory was when Jesse took my belly picture this week. Lucas came up and showed me his tummy too!
Food cravings:
The one thing I want I can’t get here!! Leave it to my crazy kid to make me crave a TACO BURGER from Bob’s Burgers (in Albuquerque.) I can’t get it off my mind. I think I’m going to have to improvise and make my own. Anyone have a recipe for their ranchero sauce?
Food aversions:
Nothing specific this week, though because of my exhaustion I’ve been unhappy about cooking this week. I just don’t have any “want to” this week. So we’ve eaten out a lot. :(
Symptoms:
Ugh. The damn heartburn has begun. Seems early--I don’t think I had it this early with Lucas.
Movement:
Tons! Especially when I lay down at night. I can even see it on the outside now!
Gender:
Girl! (Note: this section not likely to change from here on out....unlike my weight, which will.) :)
What I’m looking forward to:
I’m kind of looking forward to wearing more dresses!
What I’m nervous about:
My latest worry includes me freaking out because my due date is the day before Lucas starts kindergarten. I’m worried I’ll miss his first day :(
What I miss:
Breathing normally. Regular BM’s. (Sorry if that’s TMI but seriously...) I miss wanting to cook dinner and having the motivation to create a menu and grocery list.
Next appointment:
April 28th. No sono, just a checkup.
Comparison to Pregnancy #1:
I feel bigger somehow, but looking at pictures of myself when I was pregnant I don’t really think I am. I think my baby bump is around the same size, but definitely a different shape.
