Second Pregnancy :: Week 22
How far along?
22 weeks
How big is baby?
A Papaya
Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.
Weight this week:
187
Total weight gain:
18.6
Maternity clothes:
I feel much more comfortable (oddly) in things that fit a bit closer--the shirts that are really flowy and tent-like are still bothering me. I’ve been pairing some of my non-maternity tops with my maternity jeans and I’ve been happy with some of the styles I’m creating. We got to wear jeans all week this week but we’re back to regular dress code this week so I think I may go for some more dresses!
Stretch marks:
Nothing new.
Belly button:
Others have started to notice the poking out bit :)
Sleep:
I’ve slept pretty well this week except for Tuesday--I had really bad heartburn and my hips were killing me so I slept really poorly. I felt terrible the next day--vomiting, emotional wreck--you name it, I felt it. I went to bed at 7:45 (it was still light outside) and slept hard all night.
Best moment of the week:
She’s been moving around like crazy! I love being able to see her movements from the outside now--I sit and watch for my belly to bounce around.
What started as a semi-nervous feeling (my cervix seemed to be pulsing last weekend) a visit to my doctor made me feel a lot better. Everything was fine and that was all I needed to hear!
Food cravings:
Watermelon! And thankfully, my friend Monica Burke got one for me at the farmer’s market so I have enough watermelon to feed me and this little baby girl 10 times over!
Food aversions:
No aversions, just a lack of motivation to cook :(
Symptoms:
Heartburn. I’ve now got Tums at home, in the car, and at school in case I need them.
Movement:
So much! I love it! She’s such a wiggler!
Gender:
Girl! (Note: this section not likely to change from here on out....unlike my weight, which will.) :)
What I’m looking forward to:
Summer vacation? As I think about all that needs to happen between now and the end of the school year I just want it to be over so I can be home with my feet up!
What I’m nervous about:
I suddenly realized that once Lucas is in school we will not have a regular daycare option for when Jesse and I both have inservice. I’m gonna have to start thinking about what solutions there are so that he’s taken care of.
What I miss:
My motivation to meal plan and cook. I just can’t seem to get my head wrapped around any meals without falling apart.
Next appointment:
April 28th. No sono, just a checkup.
Comparison to Pregnancy #1:
As I get further along, I feel like there are less and less similarities between my pregnancy with Lucas and this one. I don’t consider that a bad thing, just a different one :)
