Second Pregnancy :: Week 29
How far along?
29 weeks
How big is baby?
An Acorn Squash
Baby already measures about 15.2 to 16.7 inches long. Right now, we weighs about 2.5 to 3.8 pounds but he's still got a ways to go -- can you believe he'll triple in weight before birth? He's getting a little cramped in there, since he's growing so fast. But you probably already realize that, since you're getting all those jabs and kicks. He's growing white fat deposits under his skin, and his energy is surging because of it. Feel a subtle twitch? It might be baby hiccupping.
You’re probably already getting a little preview of baby’s personality, the more your feel him move. You might get some playful kicks and jabs, and start to feel little hiccups, too! At 29 weeks, he’s not just moving a lot, he’s also plumping up. And as he continues to put pressure on your digestive system, you’re going to feel the effects: hemorrhoids, heartburn, pelvic pain and frequent urination are all common at this stage in the game. Week 29 is a good time to start finalizing stuff, like stocking the nursery with baby care essentials and checking out a few potential day cares. You’ll also want to start packing a few things you know you’ll want with you at the hospital at baby’s birth. Leave it by the door, so you can add stuff you think of along the way -- and so you can grab it at a moment’s notice.
Weight this week:
195.5
Total weight gain:
27.1
Maternity clothes:
I got a new “shipment” of maternity clothes some from friends at Jesse’s school. Thank goodness too because I was getting bored with the ones I had! I need another pair or two of maternity shorts to get me through the summer though.
Stretch marks:
Nothing new. (Or not that I can tell.)
Belly button:
Mostly outie, except for at the very bottom. Its a very indecisive belly button.
Sleep:
I have been sleeping pretty hard for the most part. Jesse said I’m snoring a lot though. I don’t usually snore when I’m not pregnant. On occasion I have woken myself up with my own snoring lately...sigh.
Best moment of the week:
Lucas finished his last year in preschool this week which was very bittersweet. He’s had such an amazing year and has changed so much since starting at Lillie J. Jackson two years ago! I didn’t cry (much) but I did get teary eyed when I hugged Ms. Maciula and Ms. Lambert. I don’t feel sad about him moving on to Kindergarten because I feel like they’ve done an amazing job getting him ready!
Food cravings:
The taco obsession continues! I had chicken tacos from Chipotle TWICE this week!
Food aversions:
Spicy stuff isn’t an aversion but I’ve got this new problem--whenever I eat something that is too spicy my esophagus seems to have a spasm and it makes me feel like throwing up.
Symptoms:
I’ll leave out the details, but let’s just say that taking an extra iron pill (to help with my borderline anemia) is causing some issues down below :/
Movement:
Heavens, yes! I think she’s running out of room. Her movements are much more deliberate and noticeable from the outside. She jiggles my belly a lot!
Gender:
Girl! (Note: this section not likely to change from here on out....unlike my weight, which will.) :)
What I’m looking forward to:
Spending time in the cool mountain air, eating my Mom’s home cooking, and watching my kid play in the mountain dirt.
What I’m nervous about:
I think as my pregnancy progresses I am worrying less. I don’t really feel like I have much to talk about in this area right now.
What I miss:
Sleeping on my back.
Next appointment:
June 17th.
Comparison to Pregnancy #1:
This isn’t really a comparison but more of a difference. When I was pregnant with Lucas, orange juice could not even touch my lips because it would make me hurl. With this pregnancy, I crave the stuff!
