Second Pregnancy :: Week 34
How far along?
34 weeks
How big is baby?
A Butternut Squash
Watch what you say! Your curious baby is listening in to your conversations at 34 weeks -- and might enjoy a lullaby or two -- so go ahead and sing to him. Some say that baby will recognize songs mom sings while he’s in the womb, and may even be more easily soothed by them if he’s used to them once he’s on the “outside.” At week 34, you might breathe a little easier, since baby may descend lower into your pelvis and give your lungs some space. (Ahh!) Of course, some babies don’t do this until the day they’re born, so we’re not making any guarantees. The pitfall of this descent, of course, is even more pressure on your bladder, so be prepared to make even more trips to the ladies room over the coming weeks.
At less than two months to go, he weighs in at about 4.2 pounds to 5.8 pounds and measures about 17.2 to 18.7 inches. He's recognizing and reacting to simple songs, if you're singing them. (If you're not, start! He may find them soothing after birth.) He's also urinating about a pint a day.
Weight this week:
199.4
Total weight gain:
31 lbs.
Maternity clothes:
I feel like I’m constantly pulling down the bottom of my shirts to cover my protruding belly. I often can see the small waistband of my maternity shorts which is a sure sign my shirt has crept up again. Sigh.
Stretch marks:
Nothing new. (Or not that I can tell.)
Belly button
Outie. Full on.
Sleep:
If I’m not up every 2 hours to pee, I’m switching from one side to the other to try to get some relief from the achiness in my hips.
Best moment of the week:
Well, its hard to describe it as the best moment because I sort of think of it as the CRAZIEST moment of the week. We put our house on the market this week after only 4 days of looking at houses. We found one that we really want to buy but we were told by the agent that unless we had an MLS Listing they wouldn’t even consider an offer, so we scrambled to do it but our house now has a for-sale sign out front! Hoping (with this crazy market) that we will find someone to buy our home quickly. Its only been on the market 2 full days and I’m already realizing what a pain in the butt it is to keep a house clean with a 5 year old and a dog.
Food cravings:
Its been so busy this week that I’m having to remind myself to eat at normal intervals. I’ve been so indecisive when it comes to food that most of the time I just look to Jesse for suggestions.
Food aversions:
Still on a tomato sauce aversion.
Symptoms:
I’m starting to feel really tired, but that could be because of how busy we were were with the house this week. My ankles are looking a bit swollen most of the time now and I feel constantly thirsty no matter how much water I drink. The heartburn is still rockin’ my world.
Movement:
I have a little firecracker in there! Sometimes I like to just sit and watch the show!
Gender:
Girl! (Note: this section not likely to change from here on out....unlike my weight, which will.) :)
What I’m looking forward to:
As much as I hate packing and moving, I’m looking forward to moving into a bigger, newer house and preparing the nursery for the arrival of our sweet girl.
What I’m nervous about:
I’m nervous about losing the house that we want to buy. I need our house to sell quickly so we can buy the one we really love!
What I miss:
I miss my Mom. The closer I get to my due date, the more I wish we lived closer.
Next appointment:
July 17th is my last 2 week checkup. Then we move to weekly ones! Yikes!
Comparison to Pregnancy #1:
I remember feeling really round and really tired with Lucas. Feeling very similar right now.
