Second Pregnancy :: Week 12
How far along?

How big is baby?

As you move into the second trimester, baby shifts into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of her systems are fully formed. Most of her critical systems, which includes organs and tissues, are fully formed! She's now developing her reflexes -- if you poke her body, she'll likely move. She's opening and closing her fingers and curling her toes, too. Her brain is developing fast!
Weight this week:
177
Total weight gain:
8.6
Maternity clothes:
I’m wearing yoga pants almost daily (but I dress them up with a scarf or a cute sweater.) I did cheat on jeans week this week and wear maternity jeans even though I technically am not really big enough yet to need them--I just wanted to be comfy!!
Stretch marks:
Nothing new.
Belly button:
Innie
Sleep:
I am having a bit of trouble with my hips and knees hurting so I switch sides a lot. I’m finding myself waking up on my back and then panicking about it because I am not supposed to spend a lot of time on my back.
Best moment of the week:
There were two. The first was seeing the baby at our NT Scan. We couldn’t get over how much moving around that little bean is doing! It seems crazy not to be able to feel all the movement yet. The NT Scan and my bloodwork both came back normal--looks like we are in the clear for Down Syndrome and the Trisomies! Praise the Lord!
The second was SNOW! We got to come home early on Thursday this week because of the weather. Sadly, it didn’t stick around long enough to give us a 3-day weekend, but it will still nice to see Lucas’s face when he got to stomp around in it.
Food cravings:
I haven’t really had any this week. I’ve felt pretty yucky again.
Food aversions:
Everything. Good grief. Yes everything. I know I have to eat but man, I really am having to force myself right now. Nothing...absolutely nothing sounds good.
Symptoms:
Little headaches all week this week, but nothing like last week. I’m achy all over--could be the weather I suppose. And nausea. Blegh.
Movement:
None yet.
Gender:
Don’t know yet!
What I’m looking forward to:
I enjoyed the prenatal yoga class that started this week. I was sore the next day though! The nice thing is, it made me sleep really well and I’m looking forward to going back again! I met 4 mommies-to-be, and 3 of us are due at the end of the summer (only one delivers in a few weeks--lucky her!)
What I’m nervous about:
Jesse ended up not going to TCEA because he got really sick so I didn’t end up single-parenting it last week. Right now, I’m just hoping that the nausea and vomiting subside soon. I’m getting really tired of barfing.
What I miss:
I miss going to bed when my husband does--I’m not getting my snuggles before I go to sleep :( I just can’t stay up late right now.
Next appointment:
March 3rd
Comparison to Pregnancy #1:
I forgot how comfy yoga pants are. I wish they had pockets though! Its been so long that I don’t know that I remember exactly what I was going through at this point. I know I was still nauseated because Mom and I took a trip to Fredericksburg, TX when I was 12 weeks and I almost threw up the schnitzel I ate at dinner. I was still feeling pretty pukey then. I hope it gets better soon!!
