Second Pregnancy :: Week 8
How far along?
8 weeks
How big is baby?
A raspberry
Baby is growing like mad, putting on about a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in the trunk. Though you can't feel it yet, baby is moving those little arms, legs, and (now only slightly) webbed fingers and toes like crazy.
Weight this week:
175.0
Total weight gain:
6.6
Maternity clothes:
Still just using the belly band. I’m so much more comfy in yoga pants and my sweats so I change into those as soon as I get home most nights. My bra’s are feeling tight--I’m going to have to switch over to the maternity bras soon.
Stretch marks:
Nothing new.
Belly button:
Innie
Sleep:
I’ve been so tired. Most nights I go to bed at 8:30. I seem to sleep in 2 hour spurts and then I get up to pee. I wouldn’t say my sleep is as restful as I’d like for it to be.
Best moment of the week:
Seeing the ultrasound of our baby! Watching that little blurb on the screen (the heartbeat) thump was really neat.
Food cravings:
Food is not my friend right now. Absolutely nothing sounds good but I am trudging through and eating frequent meals. I had Pei Wei on Friday and it tasted great (Potstickers--of course--and Thai Dynamite chicken.) Yum. I’m so grossed out by food so it makes it really hard to want to eat. This is especially hard on me because I love to cook.
Food aversions:
The only answer I can say is “yes.” To everything.
Symptoms:
I’ve developed a viral rash all over my body called “pityrisis rosea” which looks really ugly but isn’t itchy or bothersome really. It looks worse after I shower because all the little lesions get pinker and there isn’t anything I can do about it--it just has to run its course.
Movement:
None yet.
Gender:
Too early! But we keep calling the baby a girl.
What I’m looking forward to:
Not being grossed out by food. And I’m kind of ready to be out of this in-between phase where I don’t need maternity clothes yet but everything is too tight.
What I’m nervous about:
My biggest concerns right now are financial. Not getting a paycheck is going to suck.
What I miss:
Being able to stay awake past 8:30. I’ve been missing out on Lucas’s bedtime routine and its making me feel really guilty.
Next appointment:
February 3rd
Comparison to Pregnancy #1:
I’ve vomited a total of 5 times so far, which isn’t really a comparison other than the fact that I’ve vomited (with Lucas I threw up at least once a day for the first 4 months.) The tiredness is definitely there, and my aversion to smells (especially food smells) is so incredibly strong. I get frustrated with feeling crappy and not like myself.
