Second Pregnancy :: Week 17
How far along?
17 weeks
How big is baby?
An Onion
Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.
Weight this week:
179.4
Total weight gain:
11 (down .6 from last week--don’t know how since I’ve been eating a lot!)
Maternity clothes:
I found a cute maternity dress and pair of shorts at CCA on Sunday and I got both for less than $6 bucks! I looked at a really cute maternity dress from Target but I just couldn’t justify spending $25 on what was basically an oversized tshirt (and something that I wouldn’t wear for too long.)
Stretch marks:
Nothing new.
Belly button:
Innie. And itchy (a little bit.)
Sleep:
I sleep in chunks. Like maybe 3 hour stretches and then I wake up and have to pee.
Best moment of the week:
March 10th--I felt an actual KICK! Before now its just been some small movements--shifting around and rubs against my belly. But last night I got an actual kick! Yippee!
March 12th--we found out we are having a baby girl!! The Gender Reveal Party was wonderful--Delia really did an amazing job on such short notice--I am so blessed and so thankful for good friends who make our family feel special. It was awesome having Delia, Kirstin, Tim, Leslie, Christina, Leah and all the littles here to reveal the gender of our new little Fletchypants!
So, pregnancy dreams are so weird! I had two separate dreams that were both bizarre. The first one included ALL of the Berger Family (cousins and all) coming to my house for Christmas during a zombie apocalypse. Literally our house was boarded up, we didn’t have electricity and all we had was a bunch of canned goods and kerosene lanterns for light. And my family rolls up (I’m talking like 40+ people) wearing clothes that I can only describe as Dickensian. My cousin Guy was dressed like Ebenezer Scrooge! It was hilarious!
The second dream I kept getting stuck in a loop. I was lost beneath the streets of London and was just trying to get back to my hotel room. I think this may be because I finished reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman recently, but I’m not sure. I really don’t like it when I feel like I’m making headway, only to find out that I ended back up in the place I started.
Food cravings:
Indian Food, Water (I’m so thirsty!), Fruit
Food aversions:
Not many. Still hate the smell of Cheerios.
Symptoms:
I’ve had some round ligament pain, but mostly I’m just hungry all the time! I’ve got to eat on a regular timetable or else I get in trouble and the nausea starts up again. Even if its just a small nibble, I need to make sure to do it.
Movement:
Still just a little, but its becoming more pronounced.
Gender:
We’re having a GIRL!!! We found out on March 12th at our Gender Reveal Party. I just knew it! I’ve been so sick and this pregnancy has been different than with Lucas.
What I’m looking forward to:
I want to recover the glider rocker and I’d like to start working on some bedding for the nursery now that we know we are having a girl!
What I’m nervous about:
I’m having a girl. There are lots of things that make me nervous about that!
What I miss:
I miss my normal boobs. These preggy ones are so heavy that I have to sleep in my bra!
Next appointment:
March 31st for my 20 week checkup and another sono.
Comparison to Pregnancy #1:
I’m nesting already. I was itching to get the crib set up and since it is Spring Break and I had time, I did! Its probably ridiculously early but I couldn’t help it. I needed to do it to satiate my nesting desire!
