My beautiful Starfish,
I wish I could slow time down because every month that passes leaves me in disbelief that you are one month older already. We moved you into a convertible carseat this month because you really hated your infant seat. You want to see the world and you want to sit up so to make your commute much more fun for you, your seat got upgraded.
You have so much personality in one little body. You are always smiling and scrunching your face, grabbing at things and pulling them toward you, and watching everything with your big hazel eyes. I used to scrunch my face when I was a baby and you do the exact same thing. It is one of the most charming and adorable things you do.
You have gotten a bit clingy lately, and get nervous when I hand you off to people (even those you know.) Sometimes when I try to put you down you will grab onto my shirt and cling to me so that it makes it difficult to put you on the floor or in your exersaucer. When someone else is holding you and you see me, you begin to flail your arms and reach for me so that I know that you want Mommy and not whoever has you in their arms. This clinginess has sometimes caused you to get mad at us when we put you down (we can't hold you ALL the time) and there have been times when we've put you on the floor and you've gotten so mad that you actually flail your arms and cry big crocodile tears. (Of course, the second we pick you up you are right as rain.)
Aside from when you are actively trying to cut a tooth, you are a good sleeper. When you are tired you will twirl your hand around your hair and grab your ears and flail your arm to try to keep yourself from falling asleep. Your longest sleep stretch is 11 hours and 36 minutes. You still take 2-3 naps a day but it varies. Sometimes you will take two long naps, or other days two short naps and one long one. When you are ready to go to bed you are good about me laying you down and going out. As long as you have your blankie to rub on your face you generally go down without a fuss.
You have continued to be my little foodie girl, eating everything we've offered you and refusing very little of it. (You rejected a green onion once but it was right after you'd eaten a piece of mandarin orange so I'm sure that combination wasn't appealing.) You LOVE peanut butter and I often will give you a little bit on a spoon to occupy you while I'm making dinner. If I'm eating anything with peanut butter you will flail your arms to get to me or alert me that you want some of your own. On your first St. Patrick's Day you ate corned beef, potatoes and you LOVED the cabbage--grabbing handfuls of it and trying to get it in your mouth.
You also are very brave about food and not afraid of things with a little kick. When Honey and Papa were here for Easter we made Navajo tacos and we gave you some pinto beans, fry bread and New Mexico green chile to eat. You didn't even bat an eye and just chomped away. You also like salsa on your eggs (or rather my eggs that you steal bites from) and you have even had falafel (which had a slight cayenne kick to it!) Things with lots of flavor and spices seem to really appeal to you and I am so proud of your fearlessness!
Speaking of Honey and Papa, they were so excited to see how much you've grown since we were at their house at Christmas! You and Honey and I went to lunch and while we were at Vertzkabap you sucked tea out of a straw for the first time, surprising both your Mommy and your Honey!
On April 3rd you gained two new teeth--the two on either side of your bottom two teeth appeared. That puts the teeth total at 6 and I just love when you smile large enough to see them all!
