It's been a year since we brought Calamity Jane and Andy Oakley into our lives. (For those of you who don't know the story--we thought Andy was a girl for the first 3 months so we named "her" Annie Oakley. When we returned from our honeymoon "she" had grown "manly bits" so we had to change HIS name.)Calamity and Andy have been highly entertaining over the past year, and have added a lot of joy and love to our family. We rescued them from a litter of 5 kittens who had been abandoned under a bush in front of my school, during TAKS week, no less! Calamity is currently Lily's favorite kitty--I wouldn't say they "play" but there is a lot of chasing and batting at each other...Andy has become much more social than he used to be. We're pretty convinced that if we didn't have a screen door he'd probably zoom outside, as he has always been a little bit feral deep in his soul. Both of them enjoy batting at bugs when they fly through the door, and most nights you can find one or both of them snuggled up on the end of our bed. At the time, we needed 2 more cats like we needed another hole in our heads. Especially because we were living in the apartment where only one cat was allowed! (Uh...we have 4.) But we wouldn't have changed a thing...
